7 In Alaska, we want to…  Prevent beginning of tobacco use among young people.  Promote quitting tobacco among youth and adults.  Protect the public from exposure to secondhand smoke.

8 Tobacco use is the number one cause of preventable death in the United States and around the world. Every year tobacco use and tobacco causing disease kills 600 Alaskans every year.

10 For decades, the tobacco industry has marketed its deadly and addictive products to children, deceived the public about the harmful effects of these products, and aggressively opposed measures to reduce tobacco use.
