3 Overview: Objectives To adopt a standard for the electronic filing and processing of international applications. To develop a system for the electronic filing of international applications based on the present software PCT-EASY (Electronic Application SYstem). Project manager: Karl Kalejs 18.3 million CHF 2002/3 allotment

7 Status: Pilot 1 st filing Nov 2002, operational Feb 2003 RO/IB only Parallel paper and electronic submission Legal copy will be paper copy Limited participation: 42 applicants Goals –stabilize software –incorporate quality feedback from applicants –3 training sessions & roundtables delivered, Geneva, Washington & Tokyo

8 Implications for Member States Strong cooperation with Member States particularly EPO (epoline) –PCT plug in –Reuse of server / client Participate in development and change of technical standard (Annex F) WIPO’s aim is to provide applicants & offices with harmonized, interoperable software
