14 Welcome Objective Partners Location Wind Turbines Timing Energy transport Environmental impact Construction phases Investment 2007/2009 phase I Demonstration phase: Construction of 6 turbines – 1st electricity cable: 150 kV (40km) 2009/2011 phase II Construction of 24 turbines and the offshore transformer station 2012/2013 phase III Construction of 24 turbines – 2nd electricity cable: 150kV (40km) GENERAL PLANNING

15 Welcome Objective Partners Location Wind Turbines Timing Energy transport Environmental impact Construction phases Investment LESSONS LEARNED design basis: Importance detailed site investigation ‘money well spent’=> for example -> Detected objects during investigation (width 50m, 11 lines) 165 objects detected with electromagnetic survey, 20 objects detected with side scan sonar -> local adjustments cable route + 60 investigated locations (± 25 objects were removed)! design: Involve contractor at an early stage in design & build phase construction: 1 lead maritime partner “1 admiral at sea”=> owner of the key maritime department contracting: Reduce interfaces; the more interfaces, the more potential risks for owner financing: Transparent communication to lender & lender’s engineer permits & supervision: Early involvement of authorities; 1 single point of contact within owner’s organisation O&M: Accessibility=>availability (e.g. service crane at each windturbine).

16 Welcome Objective Partners Location Wind Turbines Timing Energy transport Environmental impact Construction phases Investment EMPLOYMENT Ostend/Zeebrugge and offshore TOTAL : 1.036.650 working hours on site: 7.950 working hours EMPLOYMENT PHASE I: Ostend/Zeebrugge and offshore on site: 18.700 working hours on site: 1.010.000 working hours
