6. Composite volcanoes Sometimes called stratovolcanoes Most common type Form from explosive eruptions of pyroclastic material, followed by quieter flows of lava Examples Mount Fuji, Mount Hood, Mount Rainier, Mount Shasta, Mount St. Helens
