2  50,000 El Pasoans are employed because of the Mexican maquiladora industry  Mexican shoppers account for on fifth of El Paso's retail business  About 80% of El Paso residents are Hispanic and have family and friends living in Juarez Relationship between El Paso and Cd. Juarez

3 Conflicts between cities  Violence and drug trafficking  Drug cartel war in Cd. Juarez  High murder rate in Cd. Juarez due to the clash of rival drug cartels Consequences  Increase in border security  Development of more technology to maintain El Paso’s safety  Prolonged lines when crossing the border  Decreased amount of civilians crossing to El Paso which slowed the economy  Emotional impact for the families from both cities due lack of security in Cd. Juarez and visiting their loved ones

4 Positive effects in the community of El Paso  Positive impacts in bars, restaurants, dance clubs, etc…  More job opportunities in El Paso  Passport regulation to cross to Mexico

5 Increase the security on the bridges  Combating drug trafficking  More technological solutions  CBP mission to keep terrorist and their weapons out of the U.S.  SBI net responsible for the creation, development and integration of technology  Detection tools, grown sensor, radar and cameras  Forward looking infrared (FLIR) cameras  Thermal cameras.

6 Conclusion  The City of El Paso, Texas, is a border city with Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, that has been affected economically in the tourist and commercial activities  El Paso has benefited economically because the young crowd of Ciudad Juarez  The use of high technology for the security of our country
