40K Shield Sensor Layout The 40K shield is cooled from one side only. Therefore many sensors (CLTSs with several PT100s for calibration) will be used to verify that this approach works. The use of PT100s will also be explored. PT100 devices have uniform resistance from batch to batch. It may be possible to use these in place of CLTSs. Temperature Sensors Types CERNOX 1050-SD RTD CLTS (Cryogenic Linear Temperature Sensor) PT100 RTD Sensor Mounting Four wire configuration Bolting sensors is preferred. Glue used as needed. Thermal anchoring of lead wire in all cases. Liquid Helium Level Sensor. American Magnetics 2K Level sensor. 2K Feedthough. Location and length not chosen yet. Install two sensors, one active one spare. 9/5/2012 Peter Quigley Internal Design Review

Helium Pressure Sensor. Capacitive Manometer Model: 622 Barocell, (currently installed on the HTC). Helium Gas Flowmeter AC250 (or similar) Gas Meter. Wire Position Monitor Same as was used in the ICM. Vibration Sensors. Endevco Model 2272 and similar Have Several in hand along with signal conditioning electronics that may fit the task. Electronics Multi-pin Feedthroughs Many choices commercially available. 9/5/2012 Peter Quigley Internal Design Review

Piezo Actuators and Sensor Stack. Noliac, two stacks per cavity. Increase G-10 stack end plate thickness for better isolation from shorts to ground. Tuner motors. Have all motors in hand. Stepping Motor designed for 2K operation. Sensors internally and externally mounted. Heaters. 2K 2-Phase Heaters Kapton, 12” x 4” with PSA and SS mechanical clamp. Four wire configuration. One for each cavity. HOM Load Kapton, 200 Watt, 19.5” x 0.25” with PSA (If possible SS mechanical clamp). Two heaters per load. (3 week lead time) 9/5/2012 Peter Quigley Internal Design Review

Sensor and Heater Wire 36 AWG Phosphor Bronze Quad twisted pair wire with Polyimide insulation. Temperature Sensors. Level Sticks. Piezo (actuator will have double the wire runs for higher current capacity). All cables are thermally anchored appropriate to temperature location. 22 AWG wire with 12” 32 AWG phosphor bronze wire thermal break WQL-32. Tuner motors. Heaters (redundant runs on 2K 2-Phase heater). All cables are thermally anchored appropriate to temperature location. Wire harnesses 3-D CAD Model Harness design. Wire Routing, as short as possible. RF Cable Coax cable will be a two cable system, semi-rigid and semi flexible. Semi-rigid is from low temperature to 80K. Semi-flexible from 80K to 300K. Semi-rigid, UT-85-B-SS cable. Cavity Field Probe (2 cables per cavity). Wire Position Monitor (4 cables per cavity). Beam Position Monitor (4 cables). 9/5/2012 Peter Quigley Internal Design Review

Vacuum Monitoring and Control Beam Line Vacuum. Externally mounted. Valve scheme for pump down and adding additional equipment. Vac/Ion pump at each end on module. Cold Cathode at each end on module. RGA mounted at one end (or both ends) of module. Power Input Couplers. Warm Coupler: Vac/Ion pumps (6). Cold Cathodes (6). Possible issue with permanent magnets. Insulation Vacuum. Gate or right angle valves, large bore (2). Gate valves have smaller transvers footprint. Turbo molecular pumps with backing pumps (2). Cold Cathodes (2). Convectron Gauges (2). Control system for remote operation and equipment protection. 9/5/2012 Peter Quigley Internal Design Review

Electronics Rack Location and Radiation Shielding. Electronics rack location is dependent on MLC installation location. A tunnel installation requires the electronics under the module, shielding will be substantial. 9/5/2012 Peter Quigley Internal Design Review
