4 To Buy or Not O Should teenagers buy a vehicle? Why or Why not? O WANT: O Makes you independent O Saves you time in getting from one place to another O Makes you feel more mature and responsible O Going places is fun O NEED: O How close to home are the places that you go to? School, Work, Friends O How do you get there now? O How much access is there to public transportation? O Is there a family vehicle? How much access do you have to it?

5 What should you consider? O Cost O Can you afford it? O Purchase Price, fuel, oil, maintenance, repairs, insurance, licensing, registration, tolls, and parking O How does owning a car affect your schedule? O You will need to earn money to pay for the car and expenses. Will working hours take away from studying, socialization, extra-curricular activities. O Are you mature enough to handle the responsibilities? O Wants vs Needs, do you understand all the costs (time and money), can you handle the stress?
