4 We meditate on God's Word, because... 1. we get real nutriment out of them 2. it fixes the truth in our memory If your paint be thin, and you can not make your picture stand out in glowing colors, lay on many coats of thy paint, and so it will come out like you want. Complain not, then, of thy memory, complain of thyself if thou art not given to meditation. Let thy closet rebuke thee because thou hast not been oftener there, if thy memory be frail.

5 We meditate on God's Word, because... 1. we get real nutriment out of them 2. it fixes the truth in our memory Meditation clippeth the wings of thoughts, which otherwise would fly away at the first clapping of the world's hands.

7 Proverbs 3:5-6 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

8 Trust - to go quickly for refuge; be confident, sure, bold, hope in the LORD – Jehovah- the self-Existent or Eternal One with all thine heart - used very widely for the feelings, the will and even the intellect and lean - to support one's self -- lean, lie, rely, rest, stay not unto thine own understanding - knowledge, meaning, wisdom

9 In all thy ways - a road (as trodden), a course of life or mode of action acknowledge - to know (properly, to ascertain by seeing) him and he shall direct - to be straight or even; to be or to make right, pleasant, prosperous thy paths - a well-trodden road; manner, path, race, rank, highway
