3 CARNIVAL!!!! February is the Carnival month. Each region has its typical devils with costumed ensembles in colorful masks. In la Vega, the devils are called Diablo's Cojuelos. The Carnival ends with a big parade down the seafront avenue. Each Sunday the groups meet in the central park. Some groups have about 15 to 30 people, including women, lawyers, engineers, etc.

5 About the Mask The masks are made by experts. First, they make the mold and then cover it with wet newspaper and wait.The next day, they paint and decorated.

6 THE COSTUMES The Custom is made with fantasy clothes and colors.

7 The Last Day The last day of the Carnival is February 27 th, when the Dominican Republic celebrates its independence. A Big parade of floats and Diablo's Cojuelos, moves along the seafront avenue. Everybody wears masks and has fun watching the floats and Diablo's Cojuelos.
