Get Going Matthew 28:16-20
2
“Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."”

The Commission: Make Disciples “We all know what it’s like to be on a mission. When you’re on one, your focus is consuming.” (Thom Rainer, Transformational Church, page 5)

The Commission: Make Disciples Making disciples is relational/messy. Making disciples is relational/messy. “Disciples are not mass-produced. Disciples of Jesus–genuine, committed, self-sacrificing followers of Christ–are not made overnight. Making disciples is not an easy process. It is trying. It is messy. It is slow, tedious, even painful at times. It is all these things because it is relational.” --David Platt, Radical, page 93

The Commission: Make Disciples “It involves intentionally taking the gospel to people where they live, work, and play. Disciple making is not a call for others to come to us to hear the gospel but a command for us to go to others to share the gospel. A command for us to be gospel-living, gospel-speaking people at every moment and in every context where we find ourselves.” --David Platt, Radical, page 93-94

“This raises the bar in our own Christianity. In order to teach someone else how to pray, we need to know how to pray. In order to help someone else learn how to read the Bible, we need to be active in studying the Bible. But this is the beauty of making disciples. When we take responsibility for helping others grow in Christ, it automatically takes our own relationship with Christ to a new level.” David Platt, Radical, page 100-101
