Creating a Program Frame n Course(s) to be offered n Location n Dates n Partner institution n Housing n Cultural activities n Rough budget

Academics n Identify new or existing course to be taught overseas n Set requirements (GPA, language requirement, etc.) n Put together proposal that includes academics and logistics n Agreement with local university? n Agreement with Travel Agency?

Identifying Local Support Systems in your proposal n Housing facilities n Teaching facilities n Guest speakers n Cultural activities n Local transportation n Medical facilities

Identifying Cultural Activities in your Proposal n Identify day and overnight excursions n Housing needed n Local tour guides? n Who can assist? n Check local calendar for on-site events during program

Submit Proposal n Submit proposal to Department, College and UFIC for final approval n Be prepared to answer questions or re- submit certain items that are not clear n International committees in most colleges n Study Abroad Advisory Council n Submit Program Approval to UFIC

Developing a Budget n Provide UFIC with the following information: –local tuition * –classroom rental –guest lecturers * –student housing –faculty housing –local transportation –cultural activities * if applicable

Establish a program fee n Meet with UFIC staff n Discuss salary and per diem policies n Decide on break-even n Learn about teaching contract and faculty responsibilities

Recruiting Students n Reserve a table at the study abroad fair n Provide information for program flyer n Facilitate classroom presentations n Organize program orientations n Become a reviewer to check on your applications

Pre-Departure Orientation n Course content n Textbooks n Country information n Health and Safety n Expectations (!) n Visa and passport n Emergency contact n UFIC advisor will assist

Necessary Paperwork n Proposal n Department and college approval n Budget information n On-site emergency contact information n Program evaluations n Program report

While You Are Abroad n Teach your course n Engage in all cultural activities n Oversee safety, health, disciplinary and academic issues n Stay in touch with UFIC if nescessary n Manage program account and working funds

Coming Back to UF n Submit grades in Grade-A-Gator n Submit program report n Reconcile working funds and account
