However, study of the universe shows that it originated from a central point, and has been expanding from it ever since Click to proceed The Big Bang theory is not contrary to the Creation account of Genesis. God shaped it into the earth Click to proceed An observer on earth’s surface would not be able to see the sun, as the vast clouds of matter in the atmosphere would block all light from reaching the surface. This is why it is referred to as “dark”, and this is why the sun “appears” to be created later, on Day Four.

No longer was “darkness upon the face of the deep” as stated in verse 2 Due to the mass of material in the atmosphere, the sun was still not visible

It apparently started 14.5 billion years ago, and it could have ended anywhere from 4.5 to 3.5 billion years ago. The first day of creation was probably about 10 to 11 billion years long

II Peter 3:8 makes it clear that a thousand years to God is like a day, and a day like a thousand years.
