¿So, why does Chile needs (g)data?
9
Many needs … to name a few By regional atribute NORTH: minery cadastral information CENTRAL: local scale SOUTH: Indigenous people, emergencies By sector Enviromental: Enviromental Evaluations Infraestructure: cadastral and project developments National properties: cadastral administration Education: school status Agriculture: Public spending GSDI 13 Conference - May 2012 - Quebec By level of the institution Local: local cadaster, parcels. Regions: planification Central government: regulations Other: Efficiency, Efficacy.

Geospatial World Forum 2013 – Rotterdam, The Netherlands ¿So, who produces the (g)data?
11
Organizations producing GI Geospatial World Forum 2013 – Rotterdam, The Netherlands National Mapping Agencies Military Geographic Institute Aero- photogrammetric Service of the Air Force Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the Navy Ministries 20 ministries, from a total of 22 and their corresponding subordinated agencies (some of them producing huge amount of data) Subnational Governments 15 regions of the country generating data and information supporting regional planning Local Governments 346 municipalities potentially producing geospatial data for urban and rural management

Geonodo – technical features Geospatial World Forum 2013 – Rotterdam, The Netherlands
22
Geonodo – technical features Geospatial World Forum 2013 – Rotterdam, The Netherlands Connection between Geonodo and Geoportal of Chile is realized by means of the URL of the WMS appearing in the metadata record of map services (ISO 19119). Geonodo administrator must have a user account in the Geoportal of Chile for uploading the XML of metadata records generated by Geonodo. Geoportal of Chile Geonodo Upload xml Read WMS Any addition made to one geonodo must be shared to the community!

Geospatial World Forum 2013 – Rotterdam, The Netherlands SDI: Polities, institutional arrangements, standards, tech, & Communication
28
As we have focused on a citizen approach, many good things had happened: 1. Our authorities understand *better* our work 2. We have boosted up the interoperability of Geoportal 3. We have had press appearences, a little step towards having a spatial enabledsociety. GSDI 13 Conference - May 2012 - Quebec
29
Next steps Geospatial World Forum 2013 – Rotterdam, The Netherlands Understand the needs from municipalities so to help the build useful geoportals - geonodos. Work on parcel or cadaster information. Attend new needs through geoportal: for instance, implement basic geoprocess. Launch the national geoportal. The new SDI law will change the scenario.
