2. Steinhaus was born on January 14, 1887 in Jaso, Poland After finishing primary school he went to Germany to study at the university of Gottingen. Studied under many famous mathematicians such as David Hilbert. He was awarded a doctorate in mathematics in 1911.

3. After serving four years in the military in WWI he returned to Poland to begin his career.  He taught at Karkow and then Lvov.  He founded the Lvov School of Mathematics.

7.  born on 30 March 1892 at St. Lazarus General Hospital in Krakow  In 1902, Banach finished primary school in Krakow and began his secondary education at the Henryk Sienkiewicz Gymnasium No. 4 in the same city.

8.  1920 Banach was given assistantship at the Jagiellonian University  he was also accepted as a member of the Polish Academy of learning
