29 Questions

30 Lane Guidance

31 What is Lane Guidance? New feature for road designs
Provides guidance to surface of a specific lane, with guidance active to the right and left of the lane

32 How Does It Work? Surface of selected lane is extended right and left, perpendicular to HAL master alignment Guidance is to surface of selected lane – even if machine is beyond right/left sides (limits) of lane (up to 1000m beyond limits) So, as long as machine is within the start / stop points of the master alignment (within the stationing / chainage limits), operator has guidance Significantly reduces incidence of “OFF DESIGN” condition

33 Example: Machine Off Design
Exaggerated view to show feature Machine is far left of road design Cut/fill to surface of selected lane is still possible

34 How Does It Work? New icon on main screen – toggles to select or
de-select lane guidance System automatically selects lane under blade tip with focus Operator can also manually select lane sides Press and hold icon to access manual lane definition Grey line highlights direction of extended surface

35 How Does It Work? Extends the selected surface out to 1 km
Effectively overrides Vertical Guidance method selected Extended guidance plane effectively becomes temporary working surface Selected Lane

36 Cross Section Comparison
Lane Guidance SELECTED: Lane surface extended both right and left Lane Guidance DE-SELECTED

37 Benefits of Lane Guidance
Facilitates operations in early stages of road construction Allows operator to build primary lane(s) without being directly over the lanes Easier to blend current surface to existing ground – useful in early layers Excellent for cutting out narrow surfaces, such as V-ditches, with guidance focused on ditch walls Enables more productivity across entire work area No interruptions in guidance as Off-Design Situation is reduced

38 Selecting Lanes System automatically selects lane under blade tip with focus To manually select: (similar to selecting lines for horizontal guidance) Hold icon down for 2 seconds for manual Select Lane Specify left and right sides Can select any alignment in design “Select Lane” – uses nearest lines to left and right of cursor

39 Colors and Lane Selection
Selecting Lanes: Blue – master alignment Green – one side Red – other side No computational meaning to red and green In Plan View: Blue for master alignment – may be hidden if this is one of the lane sides Green for both sides of selected lane

40 Types of Designs Primarily for road design Requires SVD / SVL files
Does NOT work with DC road file Can also be used with some Site designs, where practical In all cases, a horizontal master alignment (HAL) is required If master alignment is built into design, then this is used If no master alignment built into design, then user specifies

41 When Using Site Design Operator warned to first select master alignment – need reference line to ensure repeatable surface is used Operator then selects lines to define the sides of the “lane” Note: Unlikely to be common application

42 Limits of Lane Guidance
Lane must be 300mm / 12in wide Lane must not turn more than 90 degrees away from MA Guidance starts only when all three lines have started Guidance ends when first line ends

43 Review Lane Guidance provides vertical guidance beyond right / left sides of selected lane Surface is extended out in a direction perpendicular to Master Alignment Optimal for road designs Requires SVD / SVL designs Does not support DC file road format

69 New AS456 Replaces the AS455 (PN 79937-00) by mid February
High-accuracy, compact, gravity-referenced rugged sensor Measuring angles in a full ±180° range Operates over a wide temperature range (-40°C/F to +80°C/176F) Overall sensor dimensions are 109 x 57 x 37 mm Control Interface - J1939 CAN

70 Unchanged between AS455 & AS456
The new AS456 uses the same firmware as the AS455 The AS456 will continue to use the internal gyro for compensation of the angle output when the conditions are met The mounting footprint and housing size are unchanged

71 What´s Changed with the AS456
New molded strain relief on the sensor housing improves durability at the cable exit The connector backshell is now molded with the cable and will not unscrew when un-mating the connector The cable is jacketed instead of over-braid for better durability The individual wires in the AS456 cable is now color coded (the AS455 wires were all black and used heat-shrink labels) The AS456 now has function instance lines in the cable, where as the AS455 did not. This is a future proofing feature to bring the sensor in line with existing AS4xx sensors New Part Number FRU – ANGLE SENSOR AS456
