2. Where do you come from? You may come from any of the following * Rural area * Suburban area * Urban area * Small departments & fire districts * Mid size cities right up to the capitol city * Police or Fire * Municipal, Regional or Independent

3. What Is True Across the Board? * All work to serve and protect the public * Police & Fire Advocates are just one of the tools in the toolbox your department uses to serve & protect * Your customers happen to be the elderly population

4. What Else is TRUE??? * None of your jobs is solely an advocate * You all have other duties * Your time is limited

5. Perceived Limitations? You may say; I don’t have a very large elderly population. or There is not much going on in my area with the elderly population that would require my intervention.

You All Have…. ………. to varying degrees, no matter where you come from, police or fire Elders living in their own homes or some type of senior housing or apartments Some in great health, some with health issues Some with family close by while others may not Some vulnerable to scams, others not so much Some living well while others have problems getting by

Police Advocates – Visits to senior centers and elderly housing – Being up to date on current elderly scams – Working with the AG’s office on same – Wellness programs – Options for those with Alzheimer's or dementia – Networking with other police advocates – Being aware of your areas particular needs

Fire advocates – Fire Safety education for seniors – Visits to the senior centers and elderly housing – Work with EMS personnel who have information – Participate in wellness programs – Options for those with Alzheimer's or dementia – Networking with other fire advocates – Being aware of your areas particular needs
