Warm ups! Caleb Hendricks

Introduction Have you ever gone to a basketball game and heard music playing? Some people don’t understand why they play it. Is it supposed to pump you up and get focused, or is it just for entertainment and show? What I am trying to find out is weather or not warm up music really helps your performance.

Background Info Teams all across the world play music during pre game warm up. College teams don’t tend to play it as much as the NBA. Playing music before a game didn’t use to be as popular, but Michael Jordan helped get it started for his Chicago Bulls. The music soon became a normal thing to find at a basketball game.

Hypothesis I believe that the music will help improve the shooters percentage. I think the music will help the shooters get in a rhythm and make it easier to knock down shots.

Procedure Have the participants shoot 5 shots from the baseline, wing, free throw line, and the same on the other side. Record the scores, then do the same shots again but this time with the music of the shooters choice. Calculate the final percentages and find the conclusion

Conclusion My hypothesis was correct. Everyone except one person improved there percentage. As I view the shooters, they got more focused and shot in a rhythm and got on streaks. So the music obviously helps your performance, which means it does have a meaning at games.
