3 Aim To introduce students to equipment known collectively as ‘Small Gear’.

4 Learning Outcomes At the end of the session students will be able to: Identify the applicable legislation Recognise various types of small gear Recognise tools used for forcing entry Understand the health and safety considerations.

5 Legislation The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1992 The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1992.

6 Two categories of small gear General purpose tools - Multiple uses Special purpose tools - Specific function.

7 Examples of general purpose tools.

8 Saws Carpenters ( General purpose ) Hacksaw Floorboard Wheel type Cockerel type.
