2 What Is MONAHRQ? Windows-based software from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) that can help you and your organization create your own website-based, comparative health care performance reports. Evidence-based – uses measures, data sources, and reporting techniques that are based on the latest research Quick – generates websites and reports in hours or days, not months Easy – designed to be intuitive so no training is needed to use it Flexible – allows customization to ensure that the websites and reports are relevant Free – provided by AHRQ at no cost to anyone who wants to produce health care performance websites and reports The purpose of MONAHRQ is to help increase transparency by disseminating evidence-based information that is understandable and useful for improving health care safety, quality, and affordability. 3 Health Care Professionals Reports may show statistical information useful for: Health care leaders Policymakers Researchers or analysts People who are more familiar with medical or statistical concepts Consumers/General Public Reports are designed to be understandable for: Consumers The general public Patients and family members People who are less familiar with medical or statistical concepts MONAHRQ Offers Website and Report Options Based on Your Audience(s) Evidence-based research shows that consumers understand and use reports differently than other audiences. Customize your MONAHRQ- generated website to your target audience. The website will include different default reports based on user type research, depending on your choice Each option has several types of reports on hospitals (quality, utilization, profiles, and avoidable stays), nursing homes (quality, health inspection results, staffing ratios), and physicians and other practitioners (profiles) Websites can be public or private Consumers/General Public Health Care Professionals 3
