Teacher Information  Subject: Mathematics  Grade level: First  Summary: The purpose of this power point is to allow the student to practice word problems and find the correct answers.  Objective: Given a word problem the students will be able to ad and subtract to find the correct answer with 90% accuracy.  Standard: CCSS.Math.Content.1.OA.A.1 Use addition and subtraction to solve word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing with unknowns in all positions, e.g., by using drawings, objects, and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.

Information  Remember how we add?  If we have two apples and we find two more, how many are there? + = 4

Information Continued  You will use math for the rest of your life.  Many different occupations require math.  You need math to count animals in a barn.  You need math to teach your class.  You even need math to be a doctor!
