2 Undergraduate Admission Requirements Level 1: -Complete an admission application with the Office of Undergraduate of Admissions - Selection of a College of Education program on the application -Acceptance to Wayne State University -Must also complete the Level 1 Application and return the completed application to 469 Education Level 2: -Complete the Level 2 application and submit it -When application is submitted the student is invited to a mandatory Level 2 Orientation -Students are advised to follow the Level 2 Plan of Work

4 History In 1868, the Detroit Medical College, forerunner of the School of Medicine, was established. In 1881 the Detroit Normal Training School was established. What is now Old Main Hall was built in 1896 as Central High School In 1923, the Detroit Normal Training School became a four-year degree-granting institution under the name of the Detroit Teachers College. In 1933, the College of Engineering and the Graduate School were established. In 1937, the Law School, established in 1927 as Detroit City Law School, became part of the university. In 1956, Wayne University became Wayne State University by Act 183 of Michigan Public Acts of 1956. In 1989, the name of the School of Fine and Performing Arts was changed to the College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts. In 2003, the College of Lifelong Learning joined the College of Urban Labor and Metropolitan Affairs. On June 5, 2013, the Board of Governors unanimously elected M. Roy Wilson as Wayne State's 12th president

5 Tuition Tuition and Fees - Actual tuition and fees are published each year, generally after August 1. The tuition and fees component is based on an average of lower and upper division costs (12-18 credits) in the fall and winter semesters. The estimated tuition costs for students charged under the Great Lakes policy: $11,085 The graduate tuition and fees component is based on enrollment for 8 credit hours in the fall and winter semesters.

6 Housing On Campus Housing: Undergraduates can choose between the residence halls and certain apartment buildings, and graduates can choose from a number of different apartment buildings. Detroit Gay Straight Alliance Network- promoting tolerance for LGBT students on campus and reducing anti-LGBT bullying in public schools in Detroit Feed the World- to provide food to the less fortunate I am P.I.N.K.- a student organization comprised of young women who use the skills and talents they have acquired in life Japan Club- dedicated to the shared interest of the culture, language, and history of Japan

8 Other Information The China Corner is an informal gathering for WSU students to practice their Chinese in an enjoyable, non-threatening environment "The Jews of Detroit: Past, Present, and Future" is a one-day symposium that features morning sessions on the exodus of Jews from the City of Detroit and impact of suburbanization on Jews and African-American The MD Program is the undergraduate program in medicine consists of a two- year core curriculum of basic medical science including normal and abnormal human biology, a year of clinical clerkships, and a year of clinical electives. Certification Programs - Graduate Certificate in Clinical & Translational Science, Graduate Certificate in Public Health Practice Doctor of Philosophy - The Cancer Biology Graduate Program at the Wayne State University School of Medicine and the Karmanos Cancer Institute began in 1987 with an NIH T32 Training Grant in Cancer Biology
