Operator is able to configure the signaling based trace within one technology. Enhancement for MDT support has been discussed under Rel-9 TR 32.827 and will be further discussed under Rel-10 UE measurement management WI. Management based trace Signalling based trace Enhancement to include UE for MDT purpose has been proposed in TR 32.827 Enhancement to include UE for MDT purpose is under discussion.

It shall be possible to trace information (standardized or proprietary) on interfaces Uu, S1, X2. Supported in Trace specifications in TS 32.42x series. The supported interfaces are listed in TS 32.422 section 5.5. The trace functionality is seen as basis for trouble-shooting, optimization, network wide monitoring and trouble detection and customer specific trouble shooting. Supported, This is the objective of SA5 Trace specification as defined in Trace specification 32.421. Interface to external 3rd party systems like Customer Experience Mgmt systems Supported, Interface available in 32.44x series Trace Management IRP.

Existing Trace specification can support capturing and storing real-time data for specific calls or subscribers across several network element through signaling based trace within one technology (TS 32.42x, 32.44x, 52.008). Tracing and logging of all successful and unsuccessful calls to any of registered numbers Supported, Existing Trace specification can support Trace according to operator selected users (TS 32.44x & TS.32.42x). Application has to offer the ability to set call identifying parameter values. These settings shall act as call / transaction filters. Each parameter of every protocol has to be available for selection. Typical filter parameters should be: Called party number, calling party number MSISDN, IMSI, IMEI Service of call (Speech, Video telephony, SMS, Supply. Services) Location Area Code, Cell ID Access Point Name Service Area Code GSN-IP addresses, MS-IP addresses, HSDPA, HSUPA usage Existing Trace specifications can support filters like (TS 32.422):  Triggering events  Service Level Tracing Start Triggering event  Trace Depth  List of NE types  List of interfaces  IMSI/IMEI  CellID
