E SZTERGOM B ASILICA Ecclesiastic basilica in Esztergom, Hungary The seat of the Catholic Church in Hungary Tallest building in Hungary, 18th biggest church in the world First foundation was built by Stephen I of Hungary between 1001– 1010, as the first cathedral in Hungary o Work on the building of the present began in 1822 o Architect: Pál Kühnel o Classicistic style

S OPRON FIRE TOWER The symbol of Sopron Built upon the ruins of Roman walls Originally served as a gate tower of the town walls The guards indicated the position of the fire with lanterns at night and colourful flags in daytime, called the attention of the inhabitants to strangers. Reconstruction, after the town fire of 1676 The Fire Tower is also a symbol of loyalty. The citizens depicted on the relief showing reverence to Hungary on the referendum held in 1921
