9. So What Has happened? ► The DH has given us a relatively free hand to create our own MSc ► IMPT working with Manchester Metropolitan University and King ’ s College London ► Questionnaire to scope practice ► Develop course curriculum

10. Scientist Training Programme (STP) ► Three year training program ► Joint course between MMU and King ’ s ► Probable 2 days per week at either university

11. Scientists Training Programme ► To start in September 2012 ► Large research component ► Entry by Dental Technology graduates only

12. Appointed Trainees Will Be: ► Fully funded, that is:  Salary  Course fees  Host unit set up costs ► And based at Hospital Trusts who have been selected as Host Training Centres.

13. Ideally, Host Training Units Will: ► Offer the full range of clinical and technical practice ► Be able to take a student each year ► Have access to library, research and study facilities

14. Host Units Will Need To: ► Appoint a staff member who will be trained to mentor and assist students with:  Completion of log book  Ethical approval  Placement  Liaison with University

16. Those Wishing To Be A Host Training Unit ► Act now ► Contact your PCT and Provider Skills Network ► Compile case for being a training unit ► If needed, look at neighbouring units for placements.
