CHEDS Experiment Title…… o Experimental Staff & Affiliation:  Principal Investigator (PI)  Co-PI  Post Doc  Graduate Students  Undergraduate Students o Run Date: mm/dd/yyyy - mm/dd/yyyy o Travel logistics: o Arrival day/time for all staff o Duration of stay for each staff o Hotel information o Contact information while in Austin

CHEDS Experimental Objectives List and explain in detail the scientific objectives of the experimental run

CHEDS Experimental Concept Explain in detail the concept for achieving the experimental objectives

CHEDS Experimental Concept Figure o Update the experimental concept as necessary For example:

CHEDS F/3 Detailed experimental diagram and setup o If your experiment uses the F/3 chamber, show a drawing of the target chamber with your overall layout using the drawing below. Include all measurement instruments (inside or outside chamber) to scale. NOTE: The following TPW Chamber drawing formats are available upon request: eDrawing, 3D PDF, SolidWorks, ProE, Inventor, Inventor.prt,.its,.stp,.sat,.stl,.dxf, jpeg, pdf, psd, tiff, bmp

CHEDS F/40 Detailed experimental diagram and setup o If your experiment uses the F/40 chamber, show a drawing of the target chamber with your overall layout using the drawing below. Include all measurement instruments (inside or outside chamber) to scale. NOTE: The following TPW Chamber drawing formats are available upon request: eDrawing, 3D PDF, SolidWorks, ProE, Inventor, Inventor.prt,.its,.stp,.sat,.stl,.dxf, jpeg, pdf, psd, tiff, bmp

CHEDS Equipment & resource lists o Complete the following table of experimental diagnostics o Include delivery dates of all hardware being shipped to TPW. o Update list of equipment supplied by TPW that the experiment requires. Use additional pages as needed NameTypeLocation (inside, on flange or outside chamber) Status

CHEDS Target alignment Provide a sketch or photograph of your mounted targets Explain how the target will be aligned to the laser, note in particular: Tolerances up/down and left/right (size of target region) Tolerance and preferred position in the laser propagation direction (z) Fiducial points on the target to aid with target positioning, their dimensions and locations relative to the main target, and how they are intended to be used Constraints imposed by alignment to an experimental instrument Features on the front side of the target that may obstruct the clear view of the laser focus on the target surface, such as an indentation or built-in shielding. Give the dimensions of each such feature.

CHEDS Experimental plan & shot requests o List all measurements required to achieve experimental objectives. Include equipment required to make those measurements o Describe in detail your shot procedure: (example) o vent chamber (6 minutes) o install target (5 minutes) o switch out film in electron spectrometers (5 minutes) o Pump down (30 minutes) o Align single target to best focus (10 minutes) o Shoot a single target

CHEDS Experimental plan & shot requests o Describe daily shot plan assume 4-5 shots per day in the f/3 chamber and 5-6 shots/day in the f/40 chamber: o Number and type of shots and target configuration anticipated on each day Day#/S hot# Target Type and configuration Laser Energy Pulse Duration Focal Spot Target Location Use additional pages as necessary

CHEDS Experimental plan & shot requests (continued) o Describe experimental direction. As far as you can anticipate, how will your shot plan change depending on what you see? How critical are specific pulse parameters, and how will you adapt the experiment if laser parameters are not exactly as requested ?

CHEDS Safety Training Matrix UT EHS Safety Training Record for Texas Petawatt Laser OH Name UT EID101102201 202 (Optional) * 304 306 (Optional) * Note: Training history can be verified in TXClass (https://utdirect.utexas.edu/txclass/index.WBX). A valid EID is required. Additional information about EHS training is available at http://www.utexas.edu/safety/ehs/train/. The University requires documentation that all laboratory employees have been trained in: 1. General Hazard Communication Training (OH 101 - available online and as lecture) 2. Site-Specific Hazard Communication Training (OH 102 - provided by workplace supervisor) The Principal Investigator/Lab Supervisor is responsible for insuring that Site-Specific training is provided to new employees and whenever the potential for exposure to hazardous chemicals increases significantly to when new or significant hazard information is received. 3. General Laboratory Safety (OH 201 - available online) 4. Hazardous Waste Management (OH 202 - available online) *Optional = Requirement only for Users that generate hazardous waste 5 Laser Safety (OH 304 – available online) 6. X-ray Safety (OH 306 - available as lecture) *Optional = Requirement only for Users that work with x-ray equipment o Fill out the training matrix below:
