3 Weighing in imperial units When weighing everyday objects in imperial units, we use pounds and ounces. There are sixteen ounces in one pound. So how many ounces are in two pounds?

4 We are going to focus on ounces One ounce weighs the same as 28.35 grams What is this to the nearest whole number? That’s right! 28 grams So 1 ounce = 28 grams

5 OLI – To convert different weights from ounces to grams Remember that 1 ounce = 28 grams What method is used to calculate grams? For example how would we calculate: 6 ounces = _____ grams 6 x 28 = 168grams
