2 Team Philosophy Mission – Have fun while developing individual skills and learning life lessons Practice – reduce lines, increase competition/games, compete against equals Positions – We will put players in positions that are best for the team and for the player. Boys will not play all positions every game. As we start to ask more from each position, they will need to spend more time at a position to master it. Playing time – Balanced through first 3 quarters (position dependent i.e. middies will play less minutes due to the taxing requirements of the position). 4 th quarter we will sub based on game circumstances. Asks of the Kids – Respect coaches, teammates, refs, and opponents Asks of the Parents - Communication Let us know if you’re not going to make a game Come talk to us if you or your son are unhappy with something

5 Rules 12 min running quarters or 8 min w/ stoppages Equipment Sticks – 40” to 42”, pocket – can’t see space b/w top of ball and head of stick Cup mouthpiece are mandatory Out of bounds – shots, non-shots – step on the field and go on whistle If called for foul, drop ball, and give 5yds of space – if opponent called for foul, pickup ball and get ready to go on whistle Delayed penalties – keep playing until you hear whistle Offensive Penalties: Warding Moving pick Defensive Penalties: Slashing Check to the head Body checks Cross check Other Penalties: Offsides – “middie back”! Crease – goalie is protected as long as 1 foot in crease, G must leave crease 4 sec after getting ball Push in back No pushing, holding, etc unless player has ball or within 3yds of ball

8 Offense Alignment 1-3-2 = HOPKINS WITHOUT the Ball Rules 1.After passing to other triangle, cut towards goal behind defender 2.Use V-cuts, backdoor cuts, and picks to get open 3.Stay spread 4.If someone dodges toward you, clear out 5.Crease M opposite side of crease from ball WITH the Ball Rules 1.Play with head up 2.Play with both hands 3.Pass with authority

9 Defense OFF-BALL Rules 1.Always between your man and the front of the goal 2.See-man-see-ball 3.10 feet in the “paint” 4.Sticks up 5.Slide to the dodger ON-BALL Rules 1.Know where you want them to go and help them get there 2.Good stance pointing stick at belly button 3.Work the bottom hand
