Absolute Value Inequalities Absolute value inequalities are solved in the same way linear inequalities are solved. 1.Change the inequality to an equality and solve. 2.Plot the solution on a real number line and select test numbers (points) from each region defined by the solutions. 3.Substitute the test points into the original inequality and shade the regions that make the inequality true. 4.Write your solutions sets (shaded regions) using interval notation. 3
