→determiners(such as a(n), the, my, this, these) • Plural → N-e(s) • Singular forms → determiners excepting ‘a(n)’ • Plural → auxiliary numeral or much, (a) little and so on

Count Nouns examples Singular I have a friend. My friend owns a car. Plural Friends are very important. New cars are expensive.

examples Noncount Nouns Concrete Mass Nouns Air and water are necessary for life. We need to buy coffee, rice, and sugar. ※ Concrete mass nouns → metal, food, gas, element ※ Plural → a cup of coffee, a glass of water, some water, a spoonful of sugar, a bowl of rice

singular plural Count Nouns A friend is someone who cares about you. Friends are people who care about you. Noncount Nouns Friendship is very important to me.

→ generally singular The staff was in agreement about the changes. The public is upset about the issue.

→ always plural The scissors are in that drawer. Your pants are in the laundry.
