2 Where is it produced?  The Human Growth Hormone is produced by the pituitary glands  Usually it is produced in the glands of adolescents

3 What is the target cell?  The Human Growth Hormone’s target cell are fat cells  Usually the bones of the body and the liver is effected the most

4 What causes it to grow?  The pituitary gland causes the growth of muscle, cartilage and growth of the facial bones

5 HGH Structure

6 How Does It Enter?  Sometimes the hormone can be used in a way to make the human body stronger after it is done being produced.  This is usually taken by pills or sometimes a needle

7 How Much Is In The Blood?  The amount of GH in the blood changes during the day and is affected by exercise, sleep, emotional stress, and diet.

8 Too Much  With too much HGH, the human body continues to grow after its supposed to stop.  This can either result in gigantism or acromegaly

9 Gigantism This is when the entire body continues to grow, resulting in a person who is larger than 6’5”

10 Acromegaly This is where the hands, feet, nose, jaw, lips and forehead continue to grow. Andre the Giant has this disease.

11 Can It Be Replaced?  New information is now available on the use of low doses of recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH) to reverse the GH deficiency in adults
