In the 60s, THE BEATLES were the most popular pop band.
The guys who formed the band were: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Star and George Harrison. The band was born in Liverpool, which is a city in the United Kingdom, in the early sixties. They weren´t only famous in the United Kingdom; people from all over the world Knew them and their talent . They sang a lot of songs, the most famous song was “Yellow Submarine”

John Lennon John Lennon was born in Liverpool on 9th October 1940 and died in New York. He married Joko Ono;John loved her because she was very pretty and she hold the global peace as fundamental.John used to spend most of his time with her. On 8th December 1980, he was murdered at the main entrance of his house, when he and his wife, were coming back from an interview about the peace. All people cried a lot, because John Lennon was a very important icon and everybody loved him.

Paul McCartney Sir James Paul McCartney was born 18 June 1942.
He is an English multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and composer. With John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, he gained worldwide fame as a member of the Beatles, and his collaboration with Lennon is one of the most celebrated songwriting partnerships of the 20th century. After the group's split-up, he pursued a solo career, later forming the band Wings with his first wife, Linda, and Penny Lane as the singer-songwriter.

Ringo Star Ringo Star was born in Liverpool, 7 July 1940.
Starr's parents split up when he was three years old, and his mother got married Harry Graves, who encouraged Starr's interest in music . As the drummer for the Beatles, Starr was musically creative, and his contribution to the band's music received high praise. Ringo is the most documented and critically acclaimed actor among the Beatles, playing a central role in several of their films, and appearing in numerous other films. After the Beatles' break-up in 1970, Starr achieved solo musical success with several singles and albums, and recorded with each of his fellow ex-Beatles .

George Harrison George Harrison was born on 25th February 1943 and he died on 29th November 2001. He was an English musician, singer and songwriter who achieved international fame as the lead guitarist of the Beatles. Often referred to as the "quiet Beatle", Harrison over time became an admirer of Indian culture and mysticism, introducing it to the other Beatles. Harrison developed throat cancer, which was discovered in mid 1997 after a lump on his neck was analyzed. He attributed it to smoking heavily from the 1960s until at least the late 1980s.

The Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones were another popular group.
They weren´t a pop band like The Beatles, they were a rock band. The guys who formed this group were: Brian Jones, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ian Stewart and Dick Taylor. This rock band was born in London in the 60s. The logo of this rock band is a red tongue outside of its mouth. They were very famous ,like The Beatles, all the people liked them because their music was amazing. Today, four of them are alive. The 28th June they played a concert in Spain in memory of their 50th aniversary. The most famous song of The Rolling Stones is “Satisfaction”

Elvis Presley Elvis Presley was a popular singer of the sixties.
He was popular because he sang very well and he did so strange and revolutionary movements when he danced that everybody was amazed at him. HE WAS A MUSIC REVOLUTION!! He was born on 8th January 1935 in the United States, and he died on 16th August 1977 in the United States too. He was the most important singer of the United States, and he was called, “The King” or “The Rock´&´Roll King” . He won a lot of awards: three Grammys and more awards, because he was a special singer and dancer. He died because he was ill, when he died all singers and dancers started to imitate his movements because they were amazing. We will never forget Elvis, he was a perfect boy. Elvis Presley

The who The Who are an English rock band formed in 1964 by Roger
Daltrey (lead vocals, guitar, harmonica), Pete Townshend (guitar, vocals, keyboards), John Entwistle (bass, vocals) and Keith Moon (drums, vocals). The Who has sold about 100 million records in all the history. Moon died at the age of 32 in 1978. Townshend and Daltrey continued to perform as The Who and in 2006 they released the studio album Endless Wire, which reached the top ten in the UK and USA.
