2 Agreement #1 The Dual Alliance (1879) Germany and Austria Created for protection against possible Russian Attack.

3 Agreement # 2 The Triple Alliance (1882) Germany – Italy – Austria

4 Agreement # 3 The Franco – Russian Alliance (1892) Both France and Russia feared being attacked by the triple alliance. They agreed to help each other if attacked.

5 Agreement # 4 The Entente Cordial (1904) Britain – France The British were said to be in “splendid Isolation” until the Boer war. This war took place in South Africa (British Colony). The Germans showed sympathy for the Boers (rebels). This causes the British to mistrust the Germans.

6 Agreement # 5 The Triple Entente (1907) Britain – France – Russia The British made this deal with the Russians, who already had an alliance with the French.

7 By 1907 Europe was divided into two groups 1. The Triple Entente –Great Britain –France –Russia 2. The Triple Alliance –Germany –Austria-Hungary –Italy
