1 Coating and Testing Solutions Daniel G. Ocorr Eastman Kodak Company
Leverage the power of Kodak’s world class knowledge of coating and testing science to convert your materials to usable product formats

2 Integrated Development Services
Leverage the power of Kodak’s extensive capability for developing thin-film products using a roll-to-roll manufacturing process You bring : Your material technology and know-how An understanding of the needs of your target market Kodak provides: Technology to convert your materials into a customer-ready, thin-film product prototype Environmental conditioning to simulate product aging Physical property testing to simulate expected usage Dan, I added the Kodak copyright notification to the bottom left on the master slide – Carolyn Title – changed font from 32 to 36 points – consistency with other slides Bulleted items – deleted extra spaces between the gold lettering and the white words that follow on the first and third bullets; third bullet – deleted extra space between “the” and “stability” Second bullet – inserted hyphen in “Small-scale” (I thought it also modified “coating”)

3 Integrated Development Services
Utilize some or all of a full range of services designed to develop your materials into thin-film products Custom material preparation by compounding or formulating in an aqueous or solvent solution Small-scale, thin-film coating on flexible supports in a roll-to-roll process Final product assembly using lamination, interleaving, slitting, winding, or chopping Environmental conditioning to assess the stability of your proprietary materials as they age Physical property evaluation to determine how your product will perform in your customers’ hands Dan, I added the Kodak copyright notification to the bottom left on the master slide – Carolyn Title – changed font from 32 to 36 points – consistency with other slides Bulleted items – deleted extra spaces between the gold lettering and the white words that follow on the first and third bullets; third bullet – deleted extra space between “the” and “stability” Second bullet – inserted hyphen in “Small-scale” (I thought it also modified “coating”)

4 Coating and Testing Solutions
Access technology to prototype and scale-up your materials into cost-effective product offerings using roll-to-roll manufacturing Coating Services Solvent coating on paper, plastic, and metal webs Aqueous coating on paper, plastic, and metal webs Extrusion coating on paper or plastic webs Testing Services Environmental conditioning Physical property evaluation First bullet – put series comma after “plastic” and deleted comma after “webs”

5 Range of Coating Applications
For thermoplastic materials Create compounded resins with additives to optimize material properties Cast materials into 25–1000 µm thick films Extrude materials as a 2–500 µm thick coating on paper or plastic webs For water-soluble materials Gravure coat on paper or plastic webs at wet thicknesses of 0.2–2.0 cc/sq ft Slot die coat on paper, plastic, or metal webs at wet thicknesses of 1.5–10 cc/sq ft Slide hopper coat on paper or plastic webs at wet thicknesses of 6–20 cc/sq ft Curtain coat on paper or plastic webs at wet thicknesses of 6–20 cc/sq ft Rod/blade coat on paper webs to your specifications For non-water-soluble materials Spray coat on paper or plastic webs Second and third bullets – changed “micron” to “µm” and changed the hyphens to en-dashes to show range Second main statement – inserted the hyphen in “water-soluble” Fourth, fifth, and sixth bullets – changed the hyphens to en-dashes Third main statement – inserted hyphen between “water” and “soluble” Eighth and ninth bullets – changed hyphens to en-dashes

6 Scale of Coating Services Pilot/Prototype options
For thermoplastic materials Casting or coating 6" wide films with as little as 20 lbs of material Casting or coating 16" wide films with as little as 60 lbs of material For aqueous or solvent solutions Small scale Gravure coat on paper or plastic webs (5" widths with as little as 300 g of solution) Slot die coat on paper, plastic, or metal webs (4.5"–9" widths with as little as 300 g of solution) Slide hopper coat on paper or plastic webs (4” widths with as little as 100 g of solution) Intermediate scale Gravure coat on paper or plastic webs (9.75", 13.5", or 16" widths with 5 gallons of solution) Slot die coat on paper or plastic webs (9", 13", or 16" widths with 5 gallons of solution) Curtain coat on paper or plastic webs (9.5" width with 5 gallons of solution) Rod/blade coat on paper webs (16" width with 20 gallons of solution) Title – nudged it up to the same plane as the titles on the other slides – the eye sees differences when you advance from slide to slide In presentation view, all of the inches symbols looked like end quotes, so I changed each to inches symbols Fourth bullet – put series comma after “plastic” and changed the hyphen to an en-dash Sixth and seventh bullets – inserted series commas Eighth bullet – deleted the “s” at the end of “width”

7 Scale of Coating Services Final manufacturing Options
For thermoplastic materials: Up to 16” wide films can be made on intermediate-scale pilot machines Wider format films will need to be made by a non-Kodak coating facility For aqueous or solvent solutions: Up to 16” wide films can be made on Kodak’s pilot facilities Gravure coat at speeds up to fpm Slot die coat at speeds up to 500+ fpm Rod/blade coat at speeds up to fpm Up to 60” wide films can be made on Kodak’s production facilities Gravure coat on machines in both Rochester, NY and Fort Collins,Col Slot die coat on a machine in Weatherford, Okla Curtain/Slide coat on machines in Rochester, NY Title – nudged it up to the same plane as the titles on the other slides – the eye sees differences when you advance from slide to slide In presentation view, all of the inches symbols looked like end quotes, so I changed each to inches symbols Fourth bullet – put series comma after “plastic” and changed the hyphen to an en-dash Sixth and seventh bullets – inserted series commas Eighth bullet – deleted the “s” at the end of “width”

8 Testing Services Environmental conditioning
Test chambers let you subject your materials to critical environmental factors. Your materials can be subjected to a single condition or a combination of conditions to simulate product aging. Critical environmental factors include Light Heat Humidity Environmental gases Atmospheric pressure Bulleted items – for consistency, changed first letters of each item from lower case to upper case Do you have a model consent release for the individual who is pictured? He is recognizable and model consents are needed for all recognizable persons

9 Testing Services Physical property testing
Physical property tests let you evaluate the performance characteristics of your materials. These tests are conducted in precisely controlled environments using rigorously calibrated test fixtures. All our tests can be run at a range of temperature and humidity conditions. Specific characteristics to measure include Mechanical strength Adhesive forces Friction Surface characteristics Flatness (curling) Dimensional stability Model consent releases not really needed for these people because you can’t actually see their faces to identify who they are Statement below first statement below the title – indented the first word would line up above the lines below it; replaced the hyphen between “precisely” and “controlled” to a space – adverbs ending in “y” do not take a hyphen; deleted extra space between “evaluate” and “the” on the first line Bullets – put initial upper case on first words of each item

10 Effective Use of Resources
Avoid cash-consuming efforts to create coating and testing facilities Leverage Kodak’s facilities and knowledge to help you achieve your path to market Target your cash for high-growth opportunities
