5 Icebreakers u For next four team meetings, start with one of the following (or similar) –Favorite TV show and why it is a favorite –Best first job after college –Last movie you watched –Favorite song or musical group u Mutter a lot, blame me, etc but do it! (I may ask) 540f07tltrain5sep6 5

6 Team Organization u Everyone does everything –specialized roles not allowed u “Controlled Decentralized” –problem solving as a group –team leader delegates responsibilities 540f07tltrain5sep6 6

7 Leadership u Multiple styles –find your own style u Lead - don’t be the whole team –you can’t do everything yourself u Lead - don’t follow –don’t let team members drive the team u Lead - don’t drive –don’t be a dictator u Build up your team members 540f07tltrain5sep6 7

8 Team Meetings u One of the most common complaints is that meetings are not productive u Be organized –have agenda for meeting –know due dates –have schedule at least till next presentation –set assignments 540f07tltrain5sep6 8

10 Posting assignments/issues/decisions u Each team leader will post –A weekly list of tasks and evaluation of last week’s results –A semester list of issues and decisions (chronological) – this may change during the semester u Must be posted by noon on Fridays 540f07tltrain5sep6 10

11 Team Grades u Submit Weekly by Email on Friday –Starting Friday, Sep 14th u Justify grades less than 100% –On web – 0-10 pts (actual 0-100%) u Advice –Don’t Promise –Be harder at the beginning - it is easier to become more lenient than to become more demanding –Create a grading rubric – send me a copy (by Sep 13) 540f07tltrain5sep6 11

12 Presentations u Team Web page current 24 hours before –presentation form and CD u Dress Appropriately (coat and tie) u 50 minutes (Pres 1 - 25 min ) –introduce team –introduce project –present materials –answer questions u Rubric sheet 540f07tltrain5sep6 12

18 Team member interviews u Every team leader needs to interview each team member separately. –Get to know each other –Find out concerns of team members –Determine strengths of each team member u Send me a report by Sep 13 th that details the meetings and includes a summary of the team’s strengths and weaknesses (attach a word doc, no zip files) 540f07tltrain5sep6 18
