2 Teach new posture:  Most athletes have a “rounded” shoulder.  Must teach them to activate lower trapezius and rhomboids.  “scaps” in back pocket and squeeze together

3 Stretches (all phases)  Chest stretch (corner)  Sleeper  Posterior deltoid  Partner w/ traction: 90/90 arm parallel to ground (IR & ER) 90/90 arm perpendicular to ground (IR, ER) Arm across chest +traction

4 Phase 1  Wall Walks Regains ROM in flexion and abduction (p. 582  Pendulum Regains ROM  Tubing ER, IR, Flexion, Extension, Abd., Add.  Helps strengthen scapular stabilizers Versa loop wall walks: side to side, up and down

5  Strengthening (p. 586) Military press: overhead press, anterior deltoid Rhomboids: lying prone, shoulder extension Abduction: chest on theraball, Ceiling punches: lying supine punch towards ceiling add weight when needed Theraball wall circles: 50 each way

6 Phase 2  Stabilization Fist: lying supine, arm at 90degrees of flexion, push fist in all directions Medicine ball: same as above but holding medicine ball Theraball: athlete pushes down on ball  Balancing/ strength Med ball Theraball Dot drill Versal loop walks on floor  Pushups Wall Regular Medicine ball theraball

7 Phase 3  Plyometrics/PNF Behind ball toss Trampoline  Forward  side Catch and throw med ball  Standing or laying supine ABC’s w/weight:  Athlete supine with weight in hand  Makes ABC pattern in air PNF Patterns:  Ceiling punch  90/90  Figure 8  Pitcher
