2 2 Youth in Action programme: General Objectives “The general objectives of the programme shall contribute to the development of the EU policies, in particular with regard to the recognition of cultural and multicultural and linguistic diversity in Europe, to fostering social cohesion and combating all discrimination based on sex, race or ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, age or sexual orientation, and with regard to sustainable development.” Political Context

3 3 Youth in Action programme: objectives  promoting the fundamental values of the EU among young people, in particular respect for human dignity, equality, respect for human rights, tolerance and non-discrimination;  facilitating participation in the programme by young people with fewer opportunities, including young people with disabilities;  ensuring that the principle of equality between men and women is respected in participation in the programme;  contributing to the improvement of information for young people, while paying special attention to the access of young people with disabilities; Political Context

5 5 Inclusion Strategy: Expected Outcomes  A strong commitment of stakeholders to use Youth in Action as a tool for inclusion  More inclusion projects – persons & theme  Higher quality of inclusion projects  More young people with fewer opportunities  Less obstacles for young people with fewer opportunities and youth workers for inclusion projects  More inclusion-related tools and resources  Synergies with other youth inclusion programmes and policies  A positive impact on young people

6 6 Young people that are at a disadvantage compared to their peers because they face one or more of the situations and obstacles listed below:  Social obstacles  Economic obstacles  Disability  Educational difficulties  Cultural differences  Health problems  Geographical obstacles Definition Young People with Fewer Opportunities

7 7 Inclusion Strategy: Key Lines for Actions Youth in Action & Inclusion Same general rules, but extra support  Priority for Inclusion projects  Exceptional costs – up to 100%  Procedural flexibility  Multi-measure agreements – within one action

8 8 Inclusion Strategy: Key Lines for Actions Youth Exchanges (YiA 1.1)  Priority for bi-lateral Youth Exchanges  Advanced Planning Visit Youth Initiatives (YiA 1.3)  Coach European Voluntary Service (YiA 2)  Short term EVS from 2 weeks (max 12 months)  Advanced Planning Visit (with the volunteer)  Reinforced mentorship  Younger than 18 with appropriate support  EVS database – inclusion host organisations
