3 MUSIC In this presentation we are going to talk about several genres of music such as Blues Jazz Rock n roll Rock Metal

4 BLUES Blues is easy to play, but hard to feel”-Jimmy Hendrix. Form of music that started in the United States during the start of the 20th century. The first blues songs were called Delta blues. The main instruments are electric amplified The lyrics are usually about life, more specifically, the bad things in life

5 Rock n roll Subgernes: 1950->Rockabilly(Elvis Presley) 1970->’’just’’ Rock(Led zeppelin, Rolling stones) 1980->Metal(Iron maiden, Deep purple, Black Sabbath) 1990->New wave(INXS) Origins->Country music, jump and Chicago blues and swing jazz Starting point->1950s and 60s in United States Typical instruments->Electric guitar, string bass, drums, piano and saxophone(occasionally) Popularity->One of the best selling music form since the 1950s

6 JAZZ Subgenres Invented in the U.S and gained popularity in the 1920s.
1930->swing jazz(‘fast’ tempos and strong rhythm parts) 1940->Bepop jazz(fast songs and complex harmony) 1960->Free and Modern jazz(lots of improvisation) 1970->Jazz fusion (blend of jazz and rock JAZZ Invented in the U.S and gained popularity in the 1920s. Jazz combines African-American music with European. Jazz was influenced by the music of African slaves in the U.S Jazz is said to be a pre-form of Blues

7 ROCK It comes from Rock n Roll in the early 1980s in the United kingdom and U.S Rock uses mostly an electric guitar a bass and a drum kit. Rock focuses on musical skill and live performance Rock has also helped cultural and social movements Subgenres HARD ROCK COUNTRY ALTERNATIVE PROGRESSIVE

Metal is developed in the late s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and the United States With roots in blues rock and psychedelic rock , the bands created heavy metal developed a thick, massive sound, characterized by highly amplified distortion, extended guitar solos , emphatic beats, and overall loudness.
