Mexican immigrants are unwelcome in the USA where they are seen as a drain on the US economy. The effect of emigration on the rural areas of Mexico are as follows: 1.Depopulation: some villages lost two thirds of their population between 1985 and 1995. 2.The people emigrating were not that badly off, but wanted to improve their quality of life.
