2  PROJECT: Vasilievsky Island is the historical part of Saint-Petersburg (under protection of UNESCO) and the largest island in the Neva delta. From the very foundation of St. Petersburg, Vasilievsky Island was intended to become the administrative, scientific and cultural heart of downtown St Petersburg. Volunteers will prepare the office for the summer period. During this work camp volunteers will be acquainted with Russian Easter holiday and traditions. WORK: The volunteers will be engaged in improving the territory of Vasilievsky Island and making outside and inside repair of old historical building, where host NGO “Mir Tesen” situated. Various works, not requiring any special qualifications: to seat grass, bushes and flowers; to paint the iron fenders of the windows. Inside building: to paint walls and windows, to decorate rooms. Creative volunteers you are welcome! Volunteers will prepare the office for the summer period. ACCOMMODATION Promised in St-Petersburg. LOCATION: St-Petersburg. LEISURE TIME: St. Petersburg is the cultural capital of Russia - so you will have the opportunity to visit numerous museums, theatres, galleries and exhibitions. You can go to some country residences for Emperors, Grand Princes and grandees: Peterhof, the capital of fountains (www.peterhof.org), Tsarskoye Selo (www.pushkin-town.net), Pavlovsk (www.pavlovsk.org/english), take the city-tour etc. Payment by volunteers, but we will try to find the best prices. The most famous works were written in this city: “Crime and Punishment”, “The Idiot”, “Karamazovy Brothers”, etc. His characters walked along the streets of the city. The spirit of his novels soars in the air. Dostoevsky’s grandson is currently living in St.Petersburg. Meeting with him is quite possible. So this is a challenging question to say if St.Petersburg is recognized through the novels of Dostoevsky, or it is Dostoevsky who people learn about when come to the city. So that’s why we invite you to the wonderful city of St.Petersburg to get a closer look at the world and the language of the great Dostoevsky! The group of people from different countries will be formed as in ordinary workcamp, including living and spending leisure time together, but main idea of the project is to allow volunteers increase their Russian by taking part in informal study. “Mir Tesen” doesn’t provide any certificate. WORK: The volunteers will have daily classes of Russian. So this is a challenging question to say if St.Petersburg is recognized through the novels of Dostoevsky, or it is Dostoevsky who people learn about when come to the city. So that’s why we invite you to the wonderful city of St.Petersburg to get a closer look at the world and the language of the great Dostoevsky! The group of people from different countries will be formed as in ordinary workcamp, including living and spending leisure time together, but main idea of the project is to allow volunteers increase their Russian by taking part in informal study. The methodology of teaching based on using of linguistic-cultured component. The teacher will be native speaker with the degree of bachelor of Philological faculty (specialty: “Russian as Foreign”). We ask volunteers to send us their motivation letter on Russian and CV. Please, specify your language level. “Mir Tesen” doesn’t provide any certificate. WORK: The volunteers will have daily classes of Russian. The volunteers will be engaged in improving the territory of Vasilievsky Island and making outside and inside repair of old historical building, where Host NGO “Mir Tesen” situated. Various works, not requiring any special qualifications: to seat grass, bushes and flowers; to paint the iron fenders of the windows. Inside building: to paint walls and windows, to decorate rooms. Creative volunteers you are welcome! ACCOMMODATION: in St-Petersburg. LEISURE TIME: St-Petersburg – cultural capital of Russia (http://www.gov.spb.ru/ : St. Petersburg is the cultural capital of Russia - so you will have the opportunity to visit numerous museums, theatres, galleries and exhibitions. You can go to some country residences for Emperors, Grand Princes and grandees: Peterhof, the capital of fountains (www.peterhof.org), Tsarskoye Selo (www.pushkin-town.net), Pavlovsk (www.pavlovsk.org/english), take the city-tour etc. Payment by volunteers, but we will try to find the best prices. TERMINAL: Pulkovo International Airport is located about 17 km from the St-Petersburg center. We know that some of the volunteers have problems with the high cost of tickets to Saint Petersburg. We can recommend them to find economy flights not to St. Petersburg, but to Riga or Helsinki or other Finland city. It is a very short way from Riga or Helsinki to our city not only by plane, but also by bus or train. SPECIAL REMARKS: Volunteers should bring working clothes, gloves and sleeping bags.  Besides it would be good to take something special from their country.EXTRA FEE: 200 euro  (included: accommodation, food, Russian lessons). 
