5 Who … …drew a cat on the board? …designs fashion? …builds plains? …plants rice? and who publishes books? Where’s the subject?

6 I don’t know who, but I do know where and what? 7 Who are “they”? How do I form the sentence if I don’t know who they they are? What’s the passive voice voice? Well that’s easy, use… the passive voice

8 The passive voice is a form we can use if the sentence has no s ss subject. There are times when the subject is not used. That’s when …  we don’t know the subject  we are more interested in the object than the subject  we don’t want to name the subject

9 So you say… is designed Fashion is designed in France. are built Airplanes are built in the USA. is planted Rice is planted in China. are published Books are published in Lebanon.

10 Don’t go so fast… Please explain step by step.

11 Lets take the s ss simple present first. Girls spend a lot of money on accessories. Take this example… The subject is not important, what’s important is what happens. Girls In this case we will move the object to the beginning of the sentence. subjectobject verb Lets point out the subject, the object and the verb spend a lot of money on accessories. is spent The sentence is no longer ACTIVE, It is now in the Subject object Verb P PP PASSIVE VOICE.

12 So, What did we do? We... started the sentence with the ‘OBJECT’ then the ‘verb’ changed the verb into the ‘past participle’ added ‘verb to be’ to support the past participle.

16 Do you know you can add a s ss subject if you want to…  At the end of the sentence, add by ‘ by ’  Then simply put the subject…
