9 Sharing Haemodialysis Care Course For Nurses Day 1 Focuses on: How the delegates feel about the concept of SHC The evidence and background to SHC How they as individuals learn Patient perspective ‘’I have learnt some valuable things about myself as well as patient needs’’ “I now see patients as partners in their care”

10 Sharing Haemodialysis Care Course For Nurses Use of Motivational interviewing techniques Exploring Barriers & how these can be overcome “When can we find time to teach?” “Our patients are set in their ways!” Day 2 Focuses on developing change in the way nurses view patients and care

12 Sharing Haemodialysis Care Course For Nurses Day 3 Focuses on: Practicalities of teaching Understanding Change How to maintain that mind-set of relationship change “Compassion has been put to the top of the list. It’s all about the patient!” “Its given me skills to teach, pick up feedback and change accordingly”

13 As a Result of the national training and the CQUIN… Shared Haemodialysis care has become a national brand It has moved into paediatric care – subsequent knock on Seconded Shared Care Roles e.g. Bristol, South London Adapted courses e.g. Nottingham Resources shared throughout UK and adapted for individual area use E-learning programme adopted by other trusts Strong network of renal nurses for sharing practice
