World Bank Role has Two Parts A. IDA funding for two Assessment Studies: the Techno- Economic Assessment Study (TEAS) for engineering and dam safety, and the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) B. Five Point Program for expanded World Bank involvement 2

IDA Funding for Assessment Studies (cont’d ) Comprehensive assessment of the technical, economic, social and environmental viability of the proposed Rogun HPP consistent with international standards The World Bank has committed IDA funding for the studies only Future World Bank involvement will depend on the outcomes from a series of activities: o Economic, financial, environmental and social assessments; o Bank-funded studies (including analysis of project alternatives); o Sharing and discussing studies with riparians; and o Scrutiny by the two Bank-funded independent Panels of Experts (PoE) 4
