Narrative, layout, direction. The narrative of my play is non linear, there is a scene where Sara (the main character) is telling her friend the story of how she met Jake (other main character) it then goes back to the story line of the radio play. I did this as I wanted the audience to know the story of why Jake got arrested without hi telling the audience in the story. This creates as sense of connection and emotion towards Jake as he was framed. I didn’t want to give to much away in the play as I wanted the audience to make up there own minds about the ending and how they interact sexually within the radio play.

Target Audience I wanted my target audience to be middle age adults and mature teenagers. I wanted this as I thought that a younger generation would find it hard to encode the messages throughout the play. I also aimed the broadcasting time for an evening slot, 6.30 would be ideal. I picked this as students will be home from college and university and adults back from work. It is also a time where parents can make sure they know what there child are listening to so it would be there decision to let them listen to it or not. As the play is about an illicit relationship I thought it wise to have an older more knowledgably audience.

Organisation of Actors and Equipment I organised my actors by using mobile technology and email. I arranged for them to meet me at a certain time when they were all free, I found this relatively easy to organise. I recorded by using a Sony ux 60 Recorder. This was provided by Mr Milliken and will be then transferred immediately onto the computer hard drive for editing.

Drafting & Redrafting After writing my first script there were a lot of changes to be made. I wasn’t sure how I wanted my script be herd so I played around with words and phrases until I was happy that what I was trying to represent was represented. I wanted Jake to sound more innocent and Sara to sound like she had the control, I did this by making her make the first flirtatious comment and Jake being embarrassed by it. This worked well throughout the play as I also wanted Jake to come across as naive and young. Sara’s age and authority helped to portray this. I also changed words and sentences that I thought would be a mouthful for the actors to say as they sounded much differently when written. I feel I successfully changed my script and was happy with the outcome.

History of Radio Drama Radio drama is a form of audio storytelling broadcast on radio. With no visual component, radio drama depends on dialogue, music and sound effects to help the listener imagine the story.

Audience broadcasting to... I was hoping to appeal to a BBC Radio4 audience, there wide range of listeners would be perfect for listening to my radio drama. I believe this as they have a wide range of ages who listen to the station along with a wide range of radio plays broadcasting every type of radio drama.
