Bailén has about 154 chimeneys of the ceramic sector and brick industries. It is one of the most contaminating cities in the area of Jaén. There are lots of companies that have not assessed the health risks for more than 2,500 workers.

Martos is a very important producer town of olive oil in the region of Jaén. It has a lot of factories so all of them expel a high amount of pollutants

14. From 100 kgs of pressed olives you get 20kgs of virgin olive oil and 80 kgs of “orujo”.
“Orujo” is a residue in the production of the olive oil. It is the solid part of the olive: the mixture of olive pit, peel and pulp.

15. The problem of “orujo”
The problem is that this residue is quite polluting for the environment. In Martos, the factory “LAMARCA” has been denounced by the residents in the area.
