4 HEALTH & MEDICAL SERVICE  Staffed by male & female General Practitioners  Bulk billing for Monash students  General Medicine  Health Advice  Sports Medicine  Travel needs  Sexual Health  Emergencies.

5 COUNSELLING SERVICE  Registered psychologists or social workers  Confidential and FREE for staff and student  “Drop-in” for first visit/then by appointment (Monday to Friday 11am-3pm except Wednesday 12-3pm)  Clinical & support groups  Safer Community program/Community Care Line  Psychiatric registrar for assessment  WILL ALWAYS RESPOND TO A CRISIS/EMERGENCY (within business hours)  Access to After Hours support.

6 MINDFULNESS  Counselling team supports a weekly mindfulness session 1.15 – 1.45 in the Narthex of Religious Centre Resume 3 March 2010  Mindfulness for Academic Success (MAS) 6 - week program using Mindfulness technique to help students lower their stress levels and improve their grades

7 SAFER COMMUNITY Students and staff are encouraged to contact the Safer Community staff if they:  Feel threatened or unsafe  Have concerns about a person’s behaviour  Are worried about a person harming themselves or someone else  Wish to clarify issues of responsibility, confidentiality or duty of care Safer Community telephone: 9905 1599 Email: safercommunity@adm.monash.edu.ausafercommunity@adm.monash.edu.au

8 CHAPLAINCY  The Religious Centre offers a place of worship for a wide variety of faiths  Chaplains are available for pastoral counselling, mentoring and discussion  Students run a variety of groups.

9 FAMILY AND CHILD - CARE SERVICE  Services for all campuses coordinated from Clayton  Available to students and staff  Information on childcare options on and off-campus  Vacation Care Programme.

10 OFF-CAMPUS HOUSING  Tenancy information and advice  Home-stay and boarding information Available at Clayton: Monday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. HWD HUB – Kathryn Tuesday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Bldg 47 – Kristine Other times – enquiries at the HUB (blg 10, 1 st floor, Campus Centre)

13 ASKING FOR HELP It is NOT a sign of weakness to ask for help when it is needed – it is considered appropriate behaviour SO - DO NOT let things get too bad before you talk to someone about what you are thinking and feeling. Even if it is not directly study-related, we know that what affects you personally, affects you academically. Do not feel guilty or ashamed to talk to a counsellor or academic advisor.
