3 Inauguration Day 2009 Schedule 8:00 a.m. 8:00 a.m. Gates open for ticketed attendees -- if you have tickets, it will be wise to arrive very early as crowds will be huge and security heavy. 10:00 a.m. Preliminary festivities begin, including music by The United States Marine Band, The San Francisco Boys Chorus, and the San Francisco Girls Chorus. 11:00 a.m. Live internet broadcast of the inauguration begins at the Presidential Inaugural Committee Web Site. 11:30 a.m. If you have tickets to the Inauguration ceremony, you must have passed through security by this time. 12:00 p.m. As specified by the U.S. Constitution (20th Amendment), presidential terms of office begin and end at 12:00 noon on January 20. 8  Barack Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. On August 4, 1961.  He is married to Michelle Obama, and has two daughters with her, Malia Ann Obama and Natasha Obama,  He attended Columbia University(1983) and Harvard Law School(1991).  Barack Obama was elected on November 4, 2008.  Obama is the first American president of African descent.  Oath of office is required by the U.S constitution.  The swearing-in ceremonies took place at the West Front of the Capitol.  Ceremonies began at 10:00 a.m. on January 20, 2009.

11  Barack Obama, in my opinion has been the best President of the United States so far. He wants to change this country and make it a better place for everyone. And hopefully his plans for our future really do make a difference.
