2 Containment: Keeping pest levels to an acceptable level This is essential for any agriculture production If pest are not contained, they will effect the financial output of the crop

3 Containment is: A good horticulture and Agronomic practice One must maintain a high scouting program in order to achieve containment Identification of future pest risks, before they become a problem Confining existing pest problems

4 Containment continued: Do not move pests from infected areas to non-infected areas Work in infested areas last Decontaminate equipment used in infected areas

5 Eradication: This is total removal of the pest from the entire area If the pest has been recently introduced and has limited geographical distribution, it may be possible to eradicate the organism from the area of concern.

6 Government eradication programs: Federal and State programs for the following insects: Boll Weevil Mediterranean fruit fly European fire ant
