01/21/2004By: Strobridge & Sulkoski3 Functionality Breakdown ComponentSystem WillUsingTest Rotor & Hub Take student made blades for testing A standard rod/dowel & a custom made collet hub assembly Generator Calculate a rotors power output to wind speed A DC motor as a generator, an anemometer for finding wind speed, and a load resistor Done on generator for voltage output signals D.A.C. Collect input from various components and transfer to P.C. interface Data acquisition card and applicable software

Virtual instrument software to create a control system Micro Controller Vary speed of fan and output data to D.A.C. Anemometer and microcontroller to vary the frequency of the A.C. motor in the fan. Done on Anemometer for signal output Wind Rotor Assembly Turn wind rotor assembly in or out of the wind Stepper motor with control from P.C. to turn the whole assembly. Wind Tunnel Direct air flow towards wind rotor assembly Tubing/duct work.
