2. ACTION II AND III ACTION II: EXCHANGING RESEARCH EXPERIENCE AND KNOW-HOW ON EU-TURKEY RELATIONS Activity 1 CES-METU Fellowship Programme  To enable the two-way mobility between CES-METU, JMC, University of Cologne, its network in ERA and ÖYP universities  To enhance both the dialogue between academic institutions in the EU and Turkey  In total 6 study visits in the duration of the project; 3 study visits by post doctoral researchers from CES-METU and 3 study visits from JMC, University of Cologne and its networks in the ERA will be realised.  These can be short term (up to two weeks) or long term (up to 2 months) visits.  Researchers visiting partner institutions will deliver seminars in these institutions aiming to inform the audience on Turkish accession, future enlargement, opportunities and challenges, in the three priority areas.  Plus, under this item Ph.D. candidates’ participation to conferences will be encouraged.

3. ACTION II: EXCHANGING RESEARCH EXPERIENCE AND KNOW-HOW ON EU-TURKEY RELATIONS Activity 2 Study Visit Programme for Ph.D. Candidates  This programme targets Ph.D. students in CES-METU, JMC, University of Cologne, and national networks of CES-METU.  Starts at the 6th month of the project, October 2009  Ph.D. students who are interested in conducting study visits related to their research and the priority areas of the project, will submit their applications and they will be competitively selected for study visits.  3 Ph.D. students will be selected in total, 2 from CES-METU, 1 from JMC Cologne  These study visits can be up to 2 months  These study visits are envisaged to give a prospect to open the gate for Turkish Ph.D. candidates to the European networks.  In relation to these study visits, Ph.D. candidates are expected to present their research in the Flagship Conference in the 16 th month of SInAN.  An open call will be prepared next week and send to you as well…

4. ACTION II: EXCHANGING RESEARCH EXPERIENCE AND KNOW-HOW ON EU-TURKEY RELATIONS Activity 3 Curriculum Development  Under this item, series of lectures by the visiting experts from JMC, University of Cologne and its network in ERA, i.e. TEPSA and EU-CONSENT, will be delivered in CES-METU’s premises.  Virtual study units will be formed on the project website, aiming to translate the three priority areas of the project into a core curriculum.  The curriculum development will also be extended, physically, to the ÖYP universities  Experts from JMC, University of Cologne and its network in the ERA will deliver public lectures in your universities and chambers of commerce  Special attention will be given to the research opportunities funded by the EU, Jean Monnet programme and FP7 in these visits.  A seminar titled “The EU @ Work” on institutional and legal aspects of the EU in relation to WP1 will be organized between June – October 2009  Our partner will give you more detail on this subject..

5. ACTION III: DISSEMINATING KNOWLEDGE AND BEST PRACTICES Activity 1 Webpage Internet adress : www.sinan.ces.metu.edu.tr Email: sinan@ces.metu.edu.tr  Aims to strengthen the communication with partners and other network institutions.  It is going to be a tool for research fellows, academics and Ph.D. candidates to communicate through an internet forum that will be designed for interactive communication among CES-METU and JMC, University of Cologne and their networks both at the European and Turkish level.

6. ACTION III: DISSEMINATING KNOWLEDGE AND BEST PRACTICES Activity 2. Newsletter  It will be published every 3 months to inform the public about the activities of SInAN  It will include the new publications, events and activities but also comments on the crucial developments in Turkey-EU accession negotiations.  Faculty members and research fellows from the partner institution, JMC, University of Cologne, and associates will be encouraged to contribute to this newsletter with their short reports  It will be published online but also hard copy of the newsletter will be circulated among practitioners, the civil society organisations, other research institutes, and among JMC, University of Cologne’s network as well as CES METU’s national network  Publication will start in the 6th month of the project

7. ACTION III: DISSEMINATING KNOWLEDGE AND BEST PRACTICES Activity 3. Working Papers and Edited Volume  This activity aims to facilitate dissemination of knowledge to a wider audience including civil society organisations, practitioners, and other research institutes both in Turkey and in the EU.  Working papers will be prepared by the research fellows in CES-METU, in the partner institution, JMC, University of Cologne and associates.  Visiting fellows will produce working papers related to three priority areas of the project.  After the Joint Flagship Conference, selected conference papers and working papers will be collected in an edited volume which will be distributed to a broad audience such as practitioners, NGOs, research institutes and used as future teaching companion both in the networks of JMC, University of Cologne and CES- METU.  The abstracts and the titles of the working papers will be available on the website.

8. ACTION III: DISSEMINATING KNOWLEDGE AND BEST PRACTICES Activity 4. Turkey Watch  It aims to illustrate on the issues, opportunities and challenges of further enlargement of the EU with special emphasis on Turkey in line with the objective of ensuring better knowledge and understanding of Turkey within the EU, and of the EU within Turkey focusing on the priority areas of SInAN  It will include reports from institutes from JMC, University of Cologne’s network and CES-METU’s national network as well as the partners, CES-METU and JMC, University of Cologne.  It will published on the CES-METU’s website electronically, and a hard copy of these publications will be distributed among practitioners, policy makers, business actors, research institutes, NGOs and members of press  It will be published twice 9 th and 18 th months of the project  This publication will be complementary to EU 25/27 Watch of EU-CONSENT
