18 Summary  Surface Lows tend to be east of upper air troughs. Troughs are cold.  Cold surface Highs tend to be east of upper air ridges. Ridges are warm.  Jet streams help air to move upward which helps create precipitation.  Knowing where the surface Highs, Lows, and fronts are going to be means you can forecast using the Norwegian Cyclone Model.
